Frank Darabont pensait avoir purgé sa peine, avait enfin digéré l’échec en salles des « Evadés » grâce à une heureuse seconde vie en vidéo. Mais quand son King lui propose de s’avancer sur « La Ligne Verte », il ne peut refuser l’offre. De retour derrière les barreaux, Darabont prend cette fois ses quartiers dans le couloir de la mort, pour y tourner un long métrage de plus trois heures aboutissant à une exécution.
